ABOUT ME

Abiud Montes enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on September 11, 1989. In 1990 he was deployed to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for Combat Operations in Operation Desert Storm where he served as a Tow Gunner with 8th Tank Battalion (Anti-Tank) TOW Company.

Shortly after the war, he transferred back to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve and in 1994 was hired as a Firefighter for the City of Hollywood. Because of his experience as a Marine and knowledge of military Honor Guard protocol, he was later selected as an Honor Guard member to represent the City of Hollywood Fire Department in New York for the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to Honor the fallen firefighters of the New York City Fire Department. Abiud has been working for the City of Hollywood for 26 years.

TESTIMONIALS

For the second year in a row, Sgt. Montes presented a superb talk at FINRA on leadership lessons gleaned from his years as a Marine combat veteran. He did a masterly job at engaging both the live audience and those who tuned in via WebEx.
I’d recommend Sgt. Montes very highly if you seek an inspiring, well-informed speaker with considerable real-world experience to convey deep knowledge of leadership skills. And his survival techniques could save the lives of you and your employees!

Voices like Abi’s, which come from real experience, are extremely rare to find. Any school, business, or other organization would be lucky to have him as a speaker, as his message is one that resonates with all of us.

MSgt. Abiud (Abi) Montes was an outstanding guest/motivational speaker for the 2016 Kendale Lakes Elementary Career Day. The KLE family was very fortunate to have him share important information, including: anti-bullying strategies, his passion for serving our country, what the uniform he proudly wears stands for and represents, as well as the importance of making the right choices. By far, he was a favorite guest on this wonderful day. Thank you again for being a volunteer member of our Career Day’s “Special Forces” as we were very fortunate to see you in action! I truly hope you can come back again soon. You have an incredible rapport with students that immediately engages them and welcomes them to learn from your vast knowledge and experiences. Staff and students alike were singing his praises...

Msgt. Montes is an excellent coach, a dynamic public speaker, and an engaging motivational speaker who is highly passionate about what he does.
He skillfully shared the intricacies of combating an enemy within and without, how to never underestimate your opponent, the discipline needed in fighting in urban terrain and the survival skills needed in unknown terrain. His general coaching, training and motivations helps me deeply appreciate what freedom stands for in a different perspective and why we do what we do in the military. His passion also helped reenergized our troops’ commitment to the military traditions.
